Talk Of The Town
About Us

Mike and CJ have worked successfully together for the past 9 years bringing their unique style to audiences all over the North Shore.  Beginning as fellow musicians who discovered not only a musical harmony but a rare synergy of personalities CJ and Mike have refined and nurtured these qualities and all are clearly reflected in their performances. The energy, passion for music and sense of humor, all of which flow with ease between them are the sparks that make your time spent with them fun, entertaining and a delight to hear!

Candace 'CJ' Unis

CJ's lead vocals will shake your soul one minute and break your heart the next. Her honest and enthusiastic style, the bluenotes in her delivery and the authority with which she sings of love and lust, lost and found, make her a commanding and memorable performer.  CJ's influences, among others, are Ella Fitzgerald, Julie London, Peggy Lee, Billie Holiday and Etta James.
Only within the past 15 years has she discovered the magic of sharing and creating music with her fellow musicians; first with the acoustic folk/rock/blues group, The Hounds, before collaborating with singer/songwriter Mike Kirsch to create Crosstown Express and most recently, Talk of the Town.
From Broadway to the blues, the lady tells it like it is and you'll be happy you were listening!

Michael Kirsch

Mike plays guitar, sings lead and harmony vocals, and is the booking contact for Talk of the Town. He also writes the charts for the group. He has been playing, singing and writing music for close to 40 years. His influences include swing, acoustic, country, rock and blues.
As well as performing as a single, Mike has played with many groups over the years. He formed his first group in high school; his last, before Talk of the Town and Crosstown Express, was with guitar duo Biscoe & Kirsch.
